Alina's baptism

We had planned on baptising Alina on Saturday, but due to protests we were not allowed to leave the base.  We went this morning and baptized her and another boy from the branch.  The water was a little on the chilly side, but worked out okay.

Tops In Blue

Tops in Blue is an Air Force touring group and they came in Incirlik last night.  We all had a great time and really enjoyed the music and dancing.

This guy mimed a song, the girls thought it was so funny.

They performed everything from country to Michale Jackson to Patriotic.

Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy where even there to perform, I think it was the girls' favorite part.

Driving in Turkey

Driving in Turkey is always interesting!

You never know what you are going to see so I always try to have my camera ready.  You can only see about half of the tree.

Happy 8th Birthday Alina

Alina was up bright and early, so excited it was her birthday.

She has been asking for a Turkish lamp since we got here.

We had to try it out before it made it to her room.

Went to a Turkish restaurant for her birthday dinner and she had chicken nuggets and fries, very authentic.

My grandma sent her this really cool flower candle for her birthday.

On top of the enormous flame it also played happy birthday.

She was so excited to have carrot cake made with Turkish carrots (which are so much better than anything we can get back in the states.)  I don't think she took a breath until the cake was gone.

Snake Castle (Yilinkale)

We hiked Snake Castle today and had great time.  It was really hot and a lot more difficult than we thought it would be, but the girls (mostly McKayla) did great.

There was a lot of climbing with our hands and through sharp bushes, but we came out of it okay.

Ky and the girls up on the castle wall.

We were able to climb all over the castle, we went into several cisterns and other rooms (don't know what they were.)

We climbed up some really narrow stairs to the caslte wall.

Me and the girls at the castle gate.

Agacpinar

We went to Agacpinar today, which is a natural spring pool.  We were excpecting a hole in the ground, so were very surprised when we got there and saw that it was an actual pool.

The girls used kick boards because the water was very deep.

We had fun jumping off the ledge where the spring enters the pool.

The water was way too cold for me, however I eventually jumped off, twice, that was enough for me.

Alina jumped off with very little hesitation and loved it.

McKayla was not too sure about it and took a lot of convincing each time she jumped off.  There was this great Turkish guy there who was going behind her and he wouldn't let her back off so she had to jump.

All the kids enjoyed laying in the warm water that had collected on the side of the pool.

The spring water as it enters the pool.

Thanks for looking
